6a outing and random

although i always feel that i never miss my pri sch classmates and that i have no very good friends within them anymore (little contact with my past clique), it is always enjoyable to be with these friends during outings..
although i always feel hesitant to go for the gatherings everytime, i always went in the end and never once regretted..
although we don't share secrets like best friends do, we always have stuffs to talk about and wasted no time with silence..
i don't know what this is called, but i guess these are what made us try to appear for gatherings, even if it is always a small group.. not necessary with just the above 7 people..
although we are never very close to one another, but the 10 years of friendship might have somewhat bonded us somehow.. hopefully gatherings will still go on 10 years, 20 years, 30 years down the road... :)
happiness or sadness, go uni, go work, get married or failure, heartbreaks, somebody passed away, we will always be there for one another..

(for record: we went for picnic at botanic gardens lol, then we (mh, des, hc, anjo) went island cremery)

hi. i have started my first day of work.

let me tell you the story of how i have gotten this job first (as promised)

since new year eve, i have been walking around my neighbourhood trying to find job postings outside the clinics. (believe me, just opp the mrt stations, there are 5 clinics. more around)

but alas, there wasn't any notices pasted. (ok there was 1 out of 5, but the person said the outlet with vacancy is the raffles place branch, not the woodlands branch so i didnt apply)

so i randomly bought a newspaper on a tuesday. there wasnt much listings on healthcare. but there was this one saying 'clinic in woodlands. full time clinic assistant needed' something along the line.. so i just called and apply, told that the doctor will call me if im shortlisted.

2 days later i received the call for interview for last friday. (i think rv is really a brand. lol)

last friday: interview.

okay, i kept thinking through answers for possible interview qns.. i was thinking hard about how to leave a good first impression too.. so i wore a white polo tee and pants and track shoes (by recalling how clinic assts usually wear o.o).
i was given an application form to fill, with questions like "are you willing to work on weekends/evenings", "can you promise not to work for other clinics nearby after you have quitted for a few years?", "are you willing to wear collared shirt to work?", "can you not wear slippers to work?", "can you not wear shorts to work?" something like that.. my mind totally went LOL.. (this showed that i totally wear correctly for the interview.. *self-admiration*)

there were questions like "do you prefer: a. low pay with no stress/scolding b. high pay but with a lot of stress/scoldings c. medium pay". obviously i chose c. lol.

then also "do you prefer: a. a lot mc but low pay b. less mc but higher pay" i chose b. i want $$$!

oh the last part of the application, "use 4 complete sentences to describe yourself."

-- I am an outgoing person who is eager to learn new things. I don't mind getting pressures as I believe it will motivate me to work harder and get more experience. I am aiming to pursue nursing for my undergraduate studies. I hope I can get this chance to experience working in a clinical setting."

during the interview: the doctor only went through the stuffs on the form, like "you want to go nursing ah? why not medicine??"... lol err... then he asked me instead "do you have anything to ask me?" I TOTALLY BLANKED OUT! normally during in an interview you only prepared answers but not questions mah! so i just say "er. not yet.." when he asked me 2 times.. then he said try 1 month contract and the range of the pay lo.. yes. and he will call me a few days later to discuss when to start work cos he's busy...

the moment i step out of the clinic, i thought of super a lot of questions -.- (many until today still unanswered cos the doctor is always busy). like. working hours, exact pay, off-days, cpf, attire, when get salary ETC ETC.

until yesterday, one week passed but still no calls. so i just dropped by the clinic after my attachment ytd. i think they were quite surprised. LOL. but the doctor said "er i call you in 2 days can? i still need to think about something".. wah piang i was damn zzz when i left the clinic.. quite scared cos i have no idea what is he thinking about.. i scare he want to sack me before i even start work.. lol..

but then, last night 10pm+ i received missed call and it was the doctor! he asked me to start work this morning -.- okay nvm im free :DD so yeah. hung up w/o asking any questions cos, i blanked out.

today morning went to work at 8.30am.

colleague: debra and shian. both 28 years old (they really dont look old). 3months and 2years+ experience respectively. yishun and admiralty respectively.

debra was in-charge of teaching me.. so learnt and did the registration procedures for the session, went bank with debra, did some scanning of medical records...

went for lunch slightly after 12pm

i dabao and went home for lunch..(benefit benefit!) lol..

went back at 2pm.. worked with shian and jesslyn (an auntie. quitting after working for one week -.-).

doctor told me to go to an empty room to read a file of all the things to take note of, procedures etc..

spent about an hour.. too long never study eyes a bit pain sia... they got slight surprise when im done O.o maybe relatively faster than others?

spent another 30min or so to do a true/false test given by the doctor after im done studying. wah, some questions were not even in the file! X.x make brilliant guesses loh, 50:50 mah..

after that i continue scanning medical records, until like 4.20pm like that the doctor said i can go home liao (Y)

so that's my first day of work. i think slowly i will learn how to dispense medicine etc (that's the part i am hoping to learn. to know all the different names of drugs and it's applications!).. I think Dr is a nice guy, but he doesn't talk to us.. busy busy..

im not working tomorrow. but morning shift on sunday.

then i would be following the schedule..

doctor's consultation hours is morning: 9am-12pm, afternoon: 2pm-4.30pm, evening: 6.30pm-9pm

sat only morning, sunday only morning and evening. dont ask me why is it so weird.

so normally work +1hour before after each session.. (but since im new so today my hours very short i think)

yep yep. see when you guys wanna jio me bah! im a busy woman :)

Nursing Job Shadowing Day 4 (Last Day)

Morning:
Neuro ward 57
followed SN Nancy. she is really really helpful i think this is the only place where i spent almost no time stoning. although some stuffs i saw in the other ward, she really try to explain everything and saw me everything.
neuro is brain, so most of the patients have stroke. nancy was in charge of the highly-dependent cubicle, so a lot of things to do.. check vital signs regularly (bp, blood oxygen saturation, pulse), then got doctors test reactions of patient (like which leg am i touching, right or left? to see if they can feel and react).. test reflexes of patient (normal response, no response, mild extension, something-start-with-f-and-i-cannot-recall-now-again).. draw blood, do hypocount.. procedures done to new admitted patient..
oh the most gross stuff is see how the psychiotherapist draw out the mucus of a patient. need to keep beating the chest to allow better secretion of the mucus, to let the mucus in the different bronchi to go to the windpipe etc, then today he suddenly drawn SUPER THICK MUCUS.. it was so thick that it is stuck on the tube and he asked me to help him hold so that he can use another tube to suck it out (ok i was wearing gloves and apron). i doubt you understand what i am talking about, but it's gross alright. (then again, actually i dont mind cos im a saddist. muahahaha)

afternoon
endo/gastro ward 64.
mostly diabetic patients. since it's afternoon there's nothing much to see again.
lol im lazy too. so that's about it.

met up with Rachelle to do some feedback after that. haha.
i think that i still want nursing.
most of the nurses told me not to join nursing because it's tough work. but it's okay if you have the passion. (then again, the nurses at paeds ward were like "passion? *laughs*" i think some nurses just treat nursing as another job for income)
i really don't mind. i want to work in medical industry but med is just too tough for me. the broadness of nursing is just right. others like physio, occupational therapy, speech therapists seem a bit more narrow for me to explore.. but i shall research all over again to double confirm if there's anything that attracts me more..

if i really go nursing, i really need to try, i must get masters of nursing. i tell myself.
i am really aiming to become an Advanced Practise Nurse. (this position is even higher than the highest position of usual nursing track, Director of Nursing). As an APN, you are just like a doctor, you can see patients and prescribe medicines.. Confirmed with Rachelle that some of the APN in NUH have their own clinics too.. Which means that APN is just like a GP (just that GP is still more pro i guess). since i can't go medicine, i might as well aim to be APN. i really like this thought ever since the alice lee centre came to our school for the nursing talk last year.

i was thinking, i get degree (& honours), i'll be 23. then i go work for 3 years, 26. then i go get my masters 2 years, 28. then i can get married. APN has more regular hours too then i can take care of my family then too.

really really must get masters. otherwise the career path is too short already.

Nursing Job Shadowing Day 3

Morning:
O&G Ward 22, Delivery Suite
O&G = Obstetrics & Gynaecology (deals with giving birth and woman's reproductive area etc)
interacted with staff nurses pretthy, lay hua (i totally thought of ms ong) and florence.
didnt manage to see much cos i wasn't allow to see any patients.. so i was just taught of different cases and what instruments do.
-there are 3 kinds of pain relief for mothers: by oral (usual pills, painkillers), by gas (where mothers wear mask with 50:50 mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide) and by water (dip in warm water.. bath tub in the suite)
-in order to give birth, mothers have to experience a lot contractions. irony: doctors give medicines to give mother contractions = pain, yet at the same time need to give pain relief so that the mothers won't feel the pain of the contractions..
-natural birth: mothers can give birth on the bed, or in water (in bath tub!), which both will do in the ward.. this is advisable, unless mothers experience complications in giving birth, or baby's situation is abnormal (like legs face down instead of head) or accident such that the baby has to come out immediately, then they have to go to operating theatre..
what else, mostly like this, others are just instruments.. when baby is born, they have to be under light (which give heat to construct a stable environment, together with oxygen etc)..
oh, although i cannot see patients, i saw a newborn baby that was transferred to the nursery here from the operating theatre! the nurses then clean the baby, measure head diameter, body length, weight etc..

i think that among all the wards, most patients go to hospital because they have illnesses to be cured. midwifey is almost the only ward that is more cheerful, because you are welcoming a new life to this world, and you are to protect 2 lives at one time.. (provided everything is smooth.. abortions etc is another different case)..

but then, cos got a lot of time in this ward, we interacted.. since midwife is a specialisation, the nurses here already worked in this industry for >10years.. all of them are discouraging me from nursing.. cos they find it a bit wasted to join nursing when i take alevels (you can just take nursing in poly!!), and tell me to try to go for more prestigious courses if my grades allow. then got this surgeon beside us interrupted and asked me to go law, cos all his friends got higher basic pay.. then all of us were like =.= him and the nurses were like "we are not talking about money here hello!", then the surgeon "okay okay sorry lah! im superficial ok! that's why im a surgeon" HAHAHAHAHA.. see how lah

afternoon:
O&G ward 48
patients here are either pre-natal or post-natal (given or waiting to give birth) or problems with the you-know-where..
afternoon really always nothing much to see since they do stuffs in the morning.
staff nurses (those diploma holders) usually give out medicines or writing reports or passing reports to the next shift..
so i was told to follow assistant nurse (ITE) or healthcare assistant (even lower than assistant nurses) to see them do their procedures (those ah-hem stuffs). i followed HCA Indra. okay actually quite interesting. saw her removing the urine etc and measuring them, then saw her remove a urine catheter from a mother waiting to deliver. (urine catheter is a tube you place inside the vagina to pee. i totally saw how you remove it. ouch.)
didnt manage to see how the nurses teach the mothers how to breastfeed =/
oh ya oh ya there was this patient with ASCITES (something wrong with abdomen), then she has another abdomenal tap other than urine catheter.. urine bag is yellow urine, but the abdomenal is reddish-orange to suck out i-forgot-what from the abdomen. i think the nurse told me there's blood but i dont think it's a bloody color =/

oh well that's about it for this day. ahh. students on attachment everywhere.
oh and got this ITE nursing on attachment was like "NO DONT JOIN NURSING" when she heard me saying i want to go nursing after As also.. =/=/

Nursing Job Shadowing Day 2

This morning I went to Paediatrics Ward 45.
which means most of the patients here are children..
in this ward, the patients here have renal failures.. either they go for dialysis or just had their kidney(s) transplanted..

i was introduced around the ward (by SN wan ling, and talked to SN indra), and since the whole ward only has 5 patients,
the ward was quite peaceful and nothing much to see.. 2 in haemodialysis in the children kidney centre.. (haemodialysis is dialysis by blood. there are patients who undergo dialysis by water, i forgot the term, but they can do it at their beds in the ward)

there was one patient in isolated room as she just got transplanted and being monitored for signs of rejection and taken good care due to temp low immunity.. wow, during rounds, there were certainly lots of people.. medical officers, pharmacists, dieticians, health officers, nurses etc.. everyone is so professional looking!
then 2 patients in their beds. one is joseph, he was preparing to be discharged.. funny and cheerful guy and you wouldnt think he's a patient.. transplanted kidney too, after discharge still need to feed on >10types of medicines and the health officer was testing him all the different med he has to take and all the different timings and days.. wow.
another patient is maryanne. also transplanted kidney, but i overheard the doctors saying that she has a tumor in the liver too. wow. she was complaining about how painful she was when she returned from her procedures and there were more in the afternoon.. she had her surgery in 2008 (that's a long time yeah?).. nevertheless she is still very friendly and willing to talk!

oh when i was talking to maryanne, two koreans came!!! (i saw them walking past yesterday in ward 41 since they were speaking in korean). they are studying in some university in seoul, one girl called jessica (majoring in japanese, year 3) and i cannot rmb the guy's name =X (majoring in urban planning and real estate.. unsure of year but is the girl's sunbae/oppa).. they are on a 6 weeks exchange programme in singapore (arrived on christmas) and attached to 2hospitals.. since they can generally speak english, i didnt even say ahnyeonghasehyo LOL...
so the two koreans played "connect 4" with maryanne. although maryanne said she is in pain, she is really a strong person and played happily together with unni and oppa! halfway i left to see how the doctors do their rounds, so i didnt manage to say bye to the koreans ): hope to see them again over the next two days xD

then actually there was nothing much in particular to see since there's little patients.. just general procedures..

after lunch (i just went to the kent ridge wing food court to buy kaya toast. wah totally got lost and kept randomly walking around to go back to main building. but i tried to look professional and held my head high lol)
i went to orthopaedic ward 54 and nurse clinician (I FORGOT HER NAME SHE GAVE ME HER NAMECARD BUT I CANT FIND IT NOW OH NO D:) brought me around! she was really kind and asked me if there's anything particular i want to see.. then she told me the importance about nurse-patient relationship, and how nurses require to communicate with the public = family members of patients... the career path of nurses etc.. she even brought me to other orthopaedic wards 51, 52 to see different conditions and different instruments..
however, i should have come in the morning to see how they change dressings and all the gross stuffs.. in the afternoon the patients only have lunch and eat their medicine........ aiya..
so i left early since there's nothing left for me to see :/

i think up till now although the attachment is not really interesting, it is not deterring me from pursuing nursing.. attachment is boring because i cannot do hands-on, and the timing is a bit weird, ending up missing to see procedures.. i still think nursing is a challenging and fulfiling career for me..

tomorrow im going to O&G ward! but not as excited anymore cos i think i know what to expect already LOL. cos i can't possibly go into the delivery operation room or something, so i only can see mothers in their beds resting after giving birth :/
ahh i really want to pursue my course asap so i can really experience and go and see all the procedures!

Nursing Job Shadowing Day 1

Ms Rachelle Tan, Senior Assistant Manager of Nursing Ed in NUH helped me to arrange my job shadowing. She is quite a cool and young lady! As nursing is quite a repetitive job, she arranged about 2hours job shadowing in each of the different wards over 4 days.. So actually my attachment is quite short, 4 days, from 9am-3pm (9.30am - 2.30pm to be exact, with lunch from 11.30-1230).. I only hope something interesting happen during my attachment so i can learn more stuffs... haha..

Supposed to meet Rachelle at 9am today, but I reached at 8.20am.. Was thinking that maybe i can get my breakfast at NUH.. but *facepalms* the kopitiam is under renovation.. I thought it would be quite rude to call her so early, so i lagged until 8.55am before calling Rachelle that I have reached. (for some reasons she was still quite stunned when i said i have reached :/) She brought me around the main building and told me that im quite suay that the kopitiam is under renovation just as i come for my attachment (lol) and shown me that i can go to the kent ridge building or nus med there to have my lunch.. but it is quite hard to walk to nus... hmm.... (in the end i just bought random sandwich from random vending machine for lunch)

We talked about why I want to pursue nursing. she says whoever laughs at me when i say i want to give free medical services in third world countries are immature.. HAHAHAHAHA.. then she told me after i get my results i can apply for sponsorship from NUH, and NUH is the only hospital that have a special group of senior nurses in charge of grooming the 'scholars' under the sponsorship to push them to higher level.. HMMM...

(im getting bored to type detailed-ly).

before lunch:

i went to surgical ward 41 (mostly neuro patients). NC Nur Hidayah introduced the wards to me and I shadowed SN1 Zhang Yue Ying (going to 4 years exp, graduated from NYP).

after lunch:

i went to surgical ward 44 (contains both surgical and medical wards. medical wards contain more of patients w respiratory problems). NM Kalarani left me to shadow nurse Cherry (going to 3.5 years exp, pursued nursing in philippines).

1. Nursing is shift work, each shift is about 9hours, 3 shifts.. (7am-4pm, 12pm-9pm, 8pm-7am) morn/aftn shift is more busy but in charge of 6beds, night shift is more relaxed but need to in charge up to 16beds.. (YY told me most of the time they are so busy due to short of nurses such that they have to skip their meals. she said she usually only eat after the end of her shift, and told me to eat more before i start pursuing nursing LOL)

Usually doctors make their morning rounds from 8am-10am.. Patients have their medicines about 8am, 12pm, 4pm, 8pm, etc. +- 1hour..

2. Some patients with renal failure, their hands are so used such that their hands cannot be used to inject for dialysis, so they have something called "Femoral Catheter", tube thingy inserted into their thigh for dialysis.

3. MRSA is a type of disease where the bacteria is immune to most antibiotics = difficult to cure. Remember to sanitise! Patients w MRSA are in cubicles with "Contact Precautions". Everything they use, the equipments etc, are yellow/labelled with yellow which is an universal indicator for MRSA.

4. Oh, some patients have difficulty breathing have some sort of tube inserted through their neck, trachea? most patients are heavily reliant on the tube, which has become their lifeline. IN ANY CASE the tube dropped (which is very very rare), there is a box with tweezers or sth and the nurses would need to use it to keep the hole on the neck open while waiting for doctors to come and insert a new tube. Today saw YY using some machine to monitor oxygen level of a patient when she was inserted the tube today or something.

Today saw how the nurses prepare medicine, insert insulin, insert some antibiotics through "burette", something which IV drip passes through.. Some patients they cannot eat so they have some tube inserted to their noses directly connected to the stomach.. Have to ground the medicine into liquid and pour inside the tube too. Oh today I saw a diabetic patient whose feet is rotting too. ouch. what else did i see? Those saikang I didn't see since they do it behind the curtain.. Mostly are done by the ITE nurses wearing purple pants tho..

Actually hospitals in singapore are quite high tech (PDAs, HSMs etc), can contact people from different areas.. good teamwork between doctors, nurses, dieticans, pharmacists, psychiotherapists etc.. cool man..

I think nurses are really patient and noble people.. Even if they feel sad for the patients, they always remain so cheerful in front of the patients! (as in encouragement smile, not laughing at their fate or sth).. Today a 70+ year old auntie went for cardio surgery. Heart bypass. Hope everything went well! She was crying although her family was by her side.. She was really scared since risks are high for old people.. She hugged and kissed the nurses as she was on the ops bed waiting to be transferred.. wah. although singaporeans can be demanding, i think i will still persevere and work, take it for the sake of people who can appreciate..

on the other hand, i find doctors very charming :D (not all though)

and was taught (unintentionally? :P) basic strumming and improvisation.

not bad not bad.

can't believe how easy it seems to be and how noob i am ._.

gonna work harder and practise more!!!

finally, i got the confirmation for my job shadowing for nursing :D

supposed to start today and lasts 2 weeks, but i guess there's nothing much to do as a nurse (lol)

so it ended up going to start from next monday and ends next thursday.

nvm, im thankful enough :D

hope i can learn a lot from these 4 days and strengthen my direction to nursing!

(and hope i get a job somehow =/)

now i need to get used to saying "this year" instead of next year, and writing "2012" instead of "2011"

things i need to get used to every january..

has 2011 been eventful?

2. clean school pond

3. experience hostel life

4. a'levels

5. go korea with friends

2 is added randomly, cos i want to get a nice number.. actually 2011 has been nothing much since it's all about studying. but i didnt really study much either.. nevertheless, no regrets since there's no room for any regrets.. regrets = waste of time..

so let's look ahead!

there will be plenty of time to do what i want. or not.

new year resolution:

1. get a job! ahh i just don't like the feeling of being unemployed. life is so meaningless.

2. gain more skills - cooking, baking, makeup, driving, do household chores etc. time to grow up

3. stay in contact with close friends

4. get into nursing - i really don't really care about my grades, but i really want to get into nursing in nus =( otherwise i will have to lap year and go overseas

5. go holiday with my whole family, not just back to hometown

6. earn more money and spend less money!

7. lucky 7: hope to find the other half (don't LOL! im very serious here!)

oh yeah, since i'll be happy if i achieve any of these, hence being happy is not a resolution.

and i hope everyone to be able to achieve their resolution, be happy and healthy! :D

the world to have less natural disasters (bless you, japan) and man-made too..

north korea and south korea to be in peace!

mmhmm.. yeah yeah.

oh and i think my point 7 need to be elaborated on!

i shall be open with it.. so people can help me to keep a lookout xD

my close friends should know already..

my type:

1. fit. no need to be too buff, but not obese, not too skinny

2. height >170cm

3. musically inclined (i find these kind of guys more romantic and attractive :D)

4. no smoking, can drink but don't drink

5. can cook and do chores

6. quite sporty

7. can drive (guys cannot drive is cui one loh)

8. average to above average looking. (too handsome i have no sense of security, but cannot too cui looking)

9. middle class family (i dont want 败家子, and too much money makes me feel insecure too)

preferably buddhists (taoists and freethinkers are fine i guess), and obviously to be able to communicate with (know eng and chinese. i dont mind him knowing more languages, so can teach me :D)

im more attracted to charming guys, but it's hard to define charming. (for now, it's like leeseunggi and jungyonghwa. both not really handsome but i find them charming, cos they are good in their own areas). tend to like guys who are cool on the outside but very caring and heartwarming once you know them. guys who have initiative, can make decisions yet not too possessive. somewhat romantic.

/edit: oh the guy must not be scared of insects (e.g. cockroaches). at least in front of me.

my trip to korea made me understand some stuffs about the korean culture.

i am not a kpop fan, maybe watching some korean dramas and going crazy over male leads once in a while (e.g. kimhyunjoong, leeseunggi, jungyonghwa), but certainly NOT a kpop fan.

this post is written to express my understanding about the korean culture, as objective as possible, to the best of my knowledge (which is limited).

1. kpop

initially, im like everyone, who think that korean songs are quite crappy.. most songs just keep repeat the same words over and over again, from "nobody" to "sorry sorry" to "gee" etc, which are plain irritating as it just get stuck in your mind for a long time.. however, actually these songs are just a small part of the kpop.. there are many other songs that are meaningful and great.. go and listen to those on the charts.. the post below contains some songs.. just because you don't understand, you don't take the effort to understand, doesn't mean that kpop sucks.. it's a very unfair statement..

i think many people dislike kpop because of how kpop fans behave. yes. they are scary. especially if you have seen how they behave at the airports, fanmeets, showcase etc.. they really stalk all the way, although they do respect their idols when they perform and go on.. but it is not just with kpop fans.. you do see fans chasing after taiwanese idols, with stalker vans too, but less vigourous... why? cos taiwanese pop is not as popular as before, you can see their song standards are dropping and some of their new artists are not as great.. i think the scariness of the fans today can be blamed to the technological advances, as information spreads fast, and kpop rises during this period.. kpop companies made full use of the internet and gain popularity fast.. cant really blame them.. they are good..

2. plastic surgery

typical koreans are not tall, very small eyes, and not particularly sharp noses.. those that are good-looking are just the artists. we always say koreans are full of plastics.. it's not untrue.. but it's just their culture.. quoting what my tour guide said, it can only blame on their culture and the harsh reality in korea.. everyone focus on looks a lot.. one example which my tour guide used: if the big company LOTTE is to recruit 1000 employees a year, 5000 people would sign up. after filtering left 3000 people with similar qualifications and abilities. so how do they choose the 1000 people from the 3000? by looks. so if you are ugly, you can't get a job! many women started saving up the moment they give birth to a daughter. why? to save up for plastic surgery when their daughters get older. so that their daughters will not grow up and blaming their moms, "why did you give birth to me with this kind of nose/face/eyes?!" etc..

yes that's korea. but since we do not live in that culture, we cannot really judge as we do not experience that kind of pressure. i think im more open to it, since they don't steal, don't rob and they did it for living. and korea is not the only country. what about thailand that is full of transexuals? why do we hear less complaints about thais? dawnyang and xiaxue also underwent plastic surgery, hongkong model angelababy too.. it's really scary, i mean plastic surgery.. how it can really transform someone, so naturally.. but no, im never gonna do that..

anyway, plastic surgery isnt as easy as some people think, and not a few hours thing. it's kind of irritating when certain people keeps like "hey he did plastic surgery again??" whenever some artists released new set of photos. hello? there's other stuffs called playing with camera angle, make-up and photoshop. i just cannot stand ignorance and acting clever.

3. random other stuffs.

shopping - actually ain't very cheap. maybe only when you buy in bulk :/

health - koreans are healthy people. you do not see obese people around. seriously. partially because the society judge on looks a lot. on the other hand, it's their diet. my tour guide said that during the SARS period, no korean actually diagnosed with SARS. i was terribly surprised. he said it was because koreans eat 3 types of stuffs since they are young, which build up their immune system a lot. the 3 food: kimchi, ginseng and garlic.

polite - from their hangul you know. there are different degrees of politeness, and bowing, manners etc. wow. i wanna understand and learn them..

okay i have nothing much to say now. but i really want to visit korea some day in the future again:) not the 1st 2 points, but their culture, landscapes, people.. yeah..

okay, time to blog about my korea trip :DDD

so my korea trip lasted from 20th - 27th December.

i went for sleepover at dingrong's house on the 19th so that we can cab down together on the 20th.

wanted to stay up the night but dingrong cmi. HAHAHAHA. i keep trying to wake her up since 5am but only woke up near 9am?? then watched Running Man "the truegary show" in the morning online. hahaha. quite funny!

Day 1 - 20th Dec

our plane at 1505 (GMT +8) and reached korea at 2210 (GMT +9). watched mr poppers' penguin on the plane and listened to songs. tried to watch the winnie the pooh movie and a selena golmz movie but too boring and i didnt complete them.

after touched down, we went to hotel. temperature was about 2degC.

as young people, of course we researched about activities at night (HEHEHE) and we cabbed down to dongdaemun at night... w/o dingrong tho, she stayed in the hotel alone as she was very tired.

tried all the street food and bought boots and etc. shopped until 4am!! saw an ice-cream cafe with songseungheon as the ambassador! i regret not taking photo ): (wanted to go eat during our visit to dongdaemun with tour but failed to do so)

Day 2 - 21th Dec

Morning call at 6.50am (GMT +9 from now on). supposed to meet at lobby at 7.50am. we were only late for 5min and the whole tour disappeared, all boarded the bus -.- all damn punctual.

anyway my tour has 24people, 4 other families. 3 families have each a pair of boy and girl, with the boy being the eldest.. lol typical family. 1 family with one very young daughter. 2 families with grandparents.

went to everland! very very big. didnt try a lot of rides cos dingrong cannot take thrilling rides. but it's damn cool. check out the photos. it snowed during the christmas parade!!! damn cool! SNOW!! there's a zoo in everland too. spent one whole day in everland.

our tour guide gave everyone a mini stuff toy as christmas gift (dunno whether he paid himself or he gotten it for free lol)

after that went to yeoju premium outlet where all the branded stuffs are at discounted prices. everyone bought stuffs except me cos couldnt find anything i really like :/

at night, we browse the channels and saw 1n2d!!! then there's running man when we were about to sleep. lol. we on the tv as we sleep cos the ringing sound when the room is silent is unbearable.

Day 3: 22th Dec

morning call at 6am. proceed to ski area. quite cool to ski. it was damn damn damn damn cold. neg17degC with a lot of strong wind! the wind totally made me fall a few times. i hereby declare ice skating is easier than skiing.. but i wanna learn skiing too! it's so fun ):

then we went for a ride up the mountain. it's supposed to be for winter olympics atheletes only! dunno how our guide managed to get us there. lol. (we were supposed to go for some gondola ride but didnt due to certain reasons)

at night went to hotspring/waterpark. either you go hotspring naked (single gender) or go waterpark in swimsuit (mixed genders). huimin didnt go cos she wasnt convenient. only 3 of us plus another auntie from our tour went for the female hot spring + sauna.. damn hot but very relaxing. there's a very cold pool too. i was trying to swim until i saw a beetle floating in front of me -.-

at night we went to the convenient store GS25. the convenient store is damn big in the resort!!

Day 4: 23rd Dec

Went to nami island. pretty pretty scenery. oh suddenly a small group of korean students approached me, giving me a take photo gesture. i thought they wanted me to help them take photo, but instead they wanted to take photo with me LOL. they very cute sia.

then transfer to jeju island. we supposed to board plane at 1725, but cos we reached earlier and we managed to change our tickets to 1630! im surprised at how flexible they are. so we reached jeju one hour earlier.

went to see the yongduam rock which is shaped as a dragon head.

after returning to hotel, we went to a certain street to shop... but didnt buy anything other than from etude house lol.

Day 5: 24th Dec

climbed the seongsan sunrise peak. it was raining ):

took photos at the rape seed flower farm

then went to the tangerine farm to pluck tangerine and buy the tangerine products.

followed by joanne teddy bear museum.. this museum is quite small scale although it is the first teddy bear museum. a lot of joon bear. damn a lot. and the leeminho bear.

then we went to glass castle.

jet boat ride - damn cool i didnt know a boat ride can be so thrilling! it was damn fast. it was raining when we went in and it snowed when we got back. we were wondering why got hard stuffs hitting on our faces during the ride. lol in the end it's snow!

mysterious road - optical illusion. apparently, you thought the road you see ahead is upslope. but when you turned your engine completely off, the vehicle still moves ahead, defying gravity. actually it's optical illusion of the road. the road is actually going downslope instead of upslope.

at night, we went out to buy some little fireworks and went to some random park to light them! but cos it is snowing, some of the stuffs i buy got wet and couldnt work ): will show video soon!

Day 6: 25th Dec CHRISTMAS!

flew from jeju to cheongju airport and bus ride back to seoul.

lotte world: couples everywhere! and since it's holiday, there's damn a lot of people everywhere. need to wait >30min each ride. lucky we had plenty of time. most of the rides are better than in genting! although some are quite scam hahaha

dongdaemun: ok shopped for souvenirs. and after returning back to hotel, we came out again to shop. but only shopped until 2am as the coldness was unbearable! about neg10? haha. need to bargain a lot also!

Day 7: 26th Dec

i was sleeping during the drive past presidential blue house -.-

the gyeongbuk palace is damn big, but it is only 30% done after being destroyed many years ago by fire. cos they are still waiting for all the correct materials to be ready..

went to ginseng showroom, amethyst factory and local cosmetic shop. the speaker for cosmetic shop damn persuasive can! i almost wanted to buy all the products.. but nah, no $$ lol..

went to namsan tower. supposed to go up but cos only one out of 3lifts were working, there was a super long queue. time didnt allow us to wait, so we gotten refund and went around taking photo only. cui ttm. but it was pretty pretty!

non-verbal artistic comedy 'drawing show'. actually the 4guys performing quite not bad. muscular! LOL. they draw damn good also. but cos i was too tired, i cant help keep falling asleep =/

went to shinchon. OMG a lot of things to buy but only 1hour -.- next time should just come here to shop. then we went to our last stop: local provision shop to buy all the 土产.

then we transfer to our hotel in inchon.

Day 8: 27th Dec

Morning call at 4.30am, meet at 5.30am to proceed to airport. reached airport about 6.30am and check in etc and went for breakfast before boarding the plane at 7.50am.

oh my, lucky we boarded the plane late at about 8am, and we walked past the business class area. BLOCK B WAS THERE. they were sitting in one whole row. how to recognise them? all different hair colours -.- damn obvious can! i was so stunned that i was starring and too stunned to do anything. damn regret never take photo/ask for autograph.. during the flight, there were curtain to separate the business class and economy class. i didnt have the courage to pull the curtain open. LOL.

reached singapore, took photo of them as they walked past the baggage area. all the fans screaming. tsktsk.

yeah then went home with my sis and mom. hahaha

it was really a nice trip.

other than with my friends, dingrong, germaine and huimin.

thanks for being such good company!

punctual at all times (other than the 1st morning lol) although we went out till late every night.

korea is such a pretty country that i really want to go again. so romantic can! i dont mind staying in the country for a few months in the future.

im a bit lazy to blog so this post is a brief one. just check out the photos. photos speak a thousand words!

today is the only day which i stayed at home the whole day..

i spent the whole afternoon clearing and cleaning. and omg a silverfish was crawling on my leg ;/

dunno where it is now since it can totally camouflage with the white tiles :/

oh wells.

tmr morning gonna accompany my brother to his school to buy textbook and uniforms for next year since im the only one who's free...

evening there's steamboat with ss!

actually i feel a bit sian but i guess it's good to meet up with some of them hahaha.

steamboat......................... it gonna spoil my diet plan :(

actually subconsciously i am on diet ever since i moved back (ok maybe started in hostel cos i started to eat only half of the portion of my meals)..

i only eat AT MOST 2 meals, and each meal is incomplete i guess..

let me recall:

today i only ate dinner that's all. 1 meal.

yesterday i ate 2 crispy kind of peanut pancake and sweet&sour chicken rice (i only ate half the rice)

sunday: some biscuits and kway teow..

wow i have lost at least 2kg already. LOL.

5 more kg to cut!

i think the steamboat gonna be my only meal tmr... but dunno if i can eat much since my stomach has shrunk :S

just finished Hayate the Combat Butler.

actually it's not exceptionally nice. it's just so-so.. lol..

just to spend my time :D but i think park shin hye is really cute :D

and quite pro in acting considering the difficulty in acting with foreigners in foreign language.. (Y)

anyway although it's a happy ending, it could have been better to just state whether did xiao sa find his parents in the end... that's the only question i ask after the end of the drama i guess..

oh yeah i have a lot of taiwanese dramas on waiting list, but i think i will watch korean dramas next..

since i need to learn korean asap :DDD so as to aid my holiday in korea~~

then again, i wont be watching whole day long, i wanna pack my stuffs at home, AND PROM STUFFS (still ZERO progress OMG!!!)...

and im starting to feel that watching dramas is getting a bit too boring, so i have borrowed books to read too!

never had a 8 months long holiday, but i guess i want to spend it meaningfully :)

我知道这部电影在很多国家都排行第一！所以我等上映两星期后再去看，希望会比较少人，

但是我还是非常喜欢这部电影。

很好笑，真的。我很久没有看电影看到很开心！LOL

粗话是粗话，裸男是裸男，但是就是这些小事情把那男主角和那些朋友的特别体现出来。

我想就算我们没有这样顽皮的同学，很多人一定有求学时“错过的爱情"

九把刀真的写很好，导演得很好，很敢挑战。就是敢才能把电影拍得那么真实！

男主角柯震东，二十岁，虽然没有演戏经验，还是把角色拿捏很好，演技好好！

女主角陈訮希，二十七岁，拍很多戏，但都不是女主角。这次终于在这次电影，变红的！我朝喜欢她,超可爱的。

虽然男女主角的年龄差别很大，但你根本看不出来吧！因为詽希一点也看不出来她的年龄！

若还没看，赶紧去电影院看！不然就等它的dvd. 好好看！

not because the paper was bad.

actually i think the paper is okay.

just that

i dunno what got into me, or rather my nose.

freaking miserable. the mucus just cannot stop running.

i brought in 2packets of tissue, but i finished it in less than 1hour.

(then how? i was using the soiled tissues loh.. gross ttm..)

freak, then i keep blowing my nose throughout the exam and cannot really concentrate on the paper.

need to keep rushing here and there and i think i wrote quite little.

kill me man.

i wanted to spend the 3hours in between chem and econs to look through my papers for chem,

but i just went back hostel to rest/sleep

cos i was thinking, no point studying now if later im going to be sick/mental block/headache

so yeah.

thank gooodness, chem was fine.

no more running nose during chem although i brought in 3packets of tissue in case.

lol.

i think i have quite a number of mistakes -.- but i cannot recall them now and i dont want to waste my brain cells now trying to recall. lol. so yeah.

yesterday, i wanted to start studying for the next paper(s) which is econs paper 2 and bio paper 3 which is gonna be on monday.

however, i studied 2 planning exercises, then i need to went to jurong point to meet my brother to pass him something before my family goes to penang last night. then i treated my brother to lunch etc etc and spent 2hours.

then went back to hostel

my neighbour huiyang is returning to china this sunday, so we, huiyang, hueyyiing and i, went to kbox. lol. k until 5.20pm and we went to jp to have our dinner, walk around, and returned to hostel near 8pm.

OMG.

okay lah at least i enjoyed my day HAHAHA

then continue to study (a bit, only finished 17A-17E plannings).

at first wanted to study throughout the night, but i think i shouldn't screw my body clock.

so i went to sleep :D

anyway, my korea trip is going to be postponed to 20th dec, instead of the initial 10th dec.

cos the agency called and say the korean airlines now then say there's no seats left.

and only available date is 20th. like what the hell.

no other alternatives left and i want to go korea. they changed my itinierary a little bit such that there's one extra night stay in hotel, but my last day of itinerary is gone!

when the last day is supposed to go shinchon and local cosmectic shop.

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

no choice. they better confirm my seats soon.

i have freaking made my booking so early ._.

oh and there's so much dramas i want to watch after As.

i just stumbled upon more and more dramas.

on the other hand, 我觉得我最近说有一点太多关于我的家庭背景。。

有的吓倒，有的不知说什么，有的装着没事，

昨天就有个，有点吓倒，然后一直叫我不要难过，对不起，不要哭！

但是我没有难过没有哭。。。所以蛮好笑的。。。也蛮好的。

还有我的电话录有在我电话坏掉的时候消失了！

oh,

somehow i really hope to do well.

i realised my concentration came back during the exams.

like people were complaining about the distractions in the exam hall (e.g. people coughing, people shaking leg), i never notice at all!

i used to have this "habit" that when im concentrating on something, i give my 100% concentration such that i don't notice my surrounding.

i still remember in primary 5, i was so concentrated on my paper, i didnt even hear the teacher making announcement about an error on the paper! only like during the last 5min when i looked up, i saw the error written on the whiteboard and quickly changed my answer!!!

that's how concentrated i can be. lol.

(but since then i will take note of announcement though)

i think it's a good thing.

which means there SHOULD BE less careless mistakes.

i hope so.

hi everyone.

im blogging in the midst of alevels, just an update after almost 2months?

50% done.

done with gp p1 and p2 :(, math p1 :( and p2 ( relative to other subjs is :) but relative to pyps is :( ), chem p3 :( and bio p2 :).

left with chem p1 and p2, bio p1 and p2, econs p1 and p2.

i didnt finish my AQ for the first time during exams =.= and i think i wrote crap. essay wasnt good cos there wasnt any singapore qns =.= wrote environment instead cos i studied it for midyears which was like months ago. i think my essay is not coherent, and after listening to what people have written, i think im totally not insightful enough ): ahh i dont wanna take english modules in uni leh ):

i have predicted math paper to be harder this year cos the past few years have been relatively easy. but i didnt expect it to be this hard =.= maybe i didnt practise enough that's why i didn't see the type of qns before? nah. it's hard. and i can't do the MI qns when i always thought it is a given ever since niraj taught me last year. AND I DIDNT EVEN WRITE OUT THE FORMAT to at least gain some credit. aiyo. so wasted. math paper 2 was relatively better than paper 1, but actually also not very easy compared to past years. got weird proving qns which i didnt manage to prove. but since i have damn a lot of time left, i worked out manually so i will still get the answer mark LOL. i think i am very optimistic.

chem paper 3. it was HARD. and im freaking careless too. maybe because it was the first paper. walao i was hoping to get A for math and chem, or at least a B for my standard. SUPER CARELESS. i can't describe, don't remember already too. only remember i actually split the orbitals 3 -3 when it's given 2 -3 =.= gonna work harder for paper 2 and paper 1!

bio. i was damn not prepared. i think i never memorise cos i just keep reading. i didnt touch bio the two days before bio paper as i was preparing for chem etc. then the night before i just pia read all the essays, only passively absorbed. when i took the paper, i flipped to the essay qns as usual. I WAS STUNNED. you know usually i dunno which qns to choose as both qns i cannot answer very well. this time, cambridge recycled their qns and these qns have been gone through so many times that it's already in my brain. qn 8 was calvin cycle vs krebs cycle, role of NAD and NADP, and something. qn 9 was dna replication, prokaryotes vs eukaryotic genome, role of centromere + telomere. i totally spotted the qns on RTT and eukaryotic. before the paper zn still asked me to test some qns and i just said explain the functions of centromere. and it came out. lol. feel so cheated. worried for nothing. im only scared im not clear enough for some answers. gonna work hard for paper 3 too since paper 2 is easy. might means paper 3 will be hard D:

im supposed to be studying for chem planning now. but since the next paper (chem + econs on same day) is 5 days later, i think i can relax a bit? LOL.

oh every weekend im watching LOVE RECIPE 料理情人梦 (starring 吴克群) and IN TIME WITH LOVE 我可能不会爱你 (starring 陈柏林 and 林依晨）

love recipe is a bit random in front but it's getting better as all the mysteries are getting solved. and wu ke qun is quite cute as a metrosexual. his muscles damn big! LOL

in time with love is nice! but getting draggy now, can't wait for 陈柏林 and 林依晨 to become a couple man! i also want a 大仁哥 ): i dont wanna explain the storyline here, but it's nice. and sweet that “我可能不会爱你”actually meant "我太过爱你".

i think i really like the line 初老症状八：懒得交新朋友的原因，是因为懒得从头交待自己的人生。

This week has been a crazy week so far.

Crazy not as in madly busy, but crazy...mentally?

I think I have been too high since Monday (when I drank coffee on Sunday night).

4days have passed for this week, and I have made myself a joke for the class for 3DAYS ALREADY! First time.

I have no idea how did it happen, it just did.

Monday

We were having GP discussion in groups. Someone asked for my packet of sweets and left it on my table. Halfway during the discussion, someone patted my shoulder and pointed to the sweets. Sharing my views halfway with my group, I thought it was Tracy asking for sweets, and so I just "AIYA YOU WANT TO EAT YOU CAN JUST TAKE".. Suddenly I turned and saw it was MISS YIM and the whole class was bursting in laughter already! I was so stunned that I couldn't react other than laughing out loud too. Miss Yim was like, "So you mean I can confiscate lah? :)" I was blushing like mad and she just took the packet and sort of like brushed across my back. Then she, "Continue discuss lah!" but we were all too stunned to react, and she, "Fang Qi, continue discussing lah, I'm just listening.. Go ahead lah... I thought coffee can stimulate your senses or something...."

Wah piang, it was damn embarrassing! Miss Yim was super cute. I really thought she confiscated my sweets, but at the end of the lesson I realised she put it in my bag only. Hahaha

Tuesday

I forgot what we were talking during Econs, and Ms Lee WM commented that I'm very 三八! And the class broke into laughter again! Paiseh max!

Nothing happened on Wednesday, fortunately! but, 好景不常在！

Today.

2HOURS GP. Halfway, as usual, Miss Yim got bored.

Sitting down, she suddenly, "eh mavis, tell me a joke".

Mavis answered, "Mavis." LOL.

But Miss Yim was not satisfied.

Then she "I'm bored lah, someone tell me a chinese joke."

And suddenly Ting xiang and people were saying "FANGQI! FANGQI GOT ONE!!! TELL HER THE 嘻嘻and哈哈 one!"

I was like "NOOOOOOOO! I will burst out laughing for sure one! cannot cannot!"

But due to strong request, I started. But still failed terribly! Because I can't help but laughed after every sentence, and everyone started laughing because I laughed so hard =.=

After Miss Yim finished listening, she said "I regret asking for it" LOL.

Anyway if you are interested, the joke was only 3 lines:

"嘻嘻和哈哈是好朋友。

有一天，哈哈死掉了，嘻嘻到哈哈的坟前，哭着说：

After that, in order to save my pride, I attempted again with the 叉烧包和馒头　joke.

Wah piang, this one made Miss Yim burst out laughing! LOL

okay, mission accomplished. HAHAHA

i have always thought this kind of stupid events are really stupid, and although i keep calling kim hyun joong my aiai, i don't really like him to the extent as what fangirls do. i dont even know that he is coming to singapore until natalie told me. then, i think studying really has drove me crazy that i keep checking out information and the day that the information was released, i actually went to thefaceshop and spent over $160 =.=

i think this is the last time i can get really crazy. chance to scream out loud without anyone calling me siao de and to really throw away all troubles before alevels. hahaha

i think there are still benefits so i am allowing myself to do this. for the first time.

ah.

HI EVERYONE!

It has been such a long time since I have left a post here. Days have been hard, despite that I have not been studying as hard as others. Oops.

I have not been on the computer for quite a long time, other than the times when my brother is away. I think this has allowed me to really concentrate more on studying. Although I still keep in touch with Facebook and Twitter updates through my mobile phone, it is much less distraction than switching on the laptop and spend hours and hours on nonconstructive stuffs.. Heh heh.

Anyway, to speak from my mind, I think my class is quite a complacent one, as compared to other classes. I know many of my classmates are smart, and much smarter than me, sometimes I will just feel ________ (pardon me, I don't have a suitable vocab to fit in). Everyday, I just do a bit of work. I do all the revisions and homework which are assigned, and just add a little revision here and there. I will feel so so so guilty that I only meet the bare minimum of revision, and feel so stressed out when I hear friends from other classes doing so much more! Then again, when I return to class, many would be "I HAVE NOT DONE.....! NO TIME LAH!! I HAVE NO TIME TO DO ... DO ... LET ALONE REVISION???!"

Listening to all this always made me feel relieved, yet worried and feeling zzz... Relieve because I know I have done more than others, worried because I will tend to stop my revision every time I hear that I am revising ahead of my classmates and start slacking off instead of continuing.. ZZZ is because I KNOW THAT THERE IS ENOUGH TIME FOR SURE TO STUDY. It just a matter whether they put their hearts into it and try to find time to do so. How many other commitments do one still hold? It's just to do well for A'levels that's all.

Nah.. I have no right to say anything since although I work hard, my grades still suck a lot more than those people. Not that I am unhappy with any of them, I just hope none of us will allow our own complacency rule over us and regret when we received our results next year.

Firstly, I would like to talk about the recent weather rollercoaster. The weather really does change very fast, one moment it could be so bright and sunny till you feel like you are going to melt, the next moment it rained so heavy that it could flood the place. While people talk about measures to survive the heat, shouldn't we take a step further to think about the causes for this disastrous weather? It wouldn't be difficult to realise it's global warming and anthropogenic climate change (yay i'm using this new term!). You hear people going around, "BUILD MORE AIR-CON!!", but isn't this adding more damages? After "liking" the ACSI idea: Air-Conditioned School Initiative (Y), i do regret on second thoughts. This is just a short term measure that would make lives ten years down the road even more tough. We might not even get to see what it will be like ten years later, observing that the effects of climate change is beyond what we have expected. We see ourselves different from animals because we have a mind to think, to make changes. However, are we really wiser than animals? Animals know how to escape for their survival before a disaster arrives, based on their instinctive features. On the other hands, we dig our own graves by solving problems on such a superficial manner. Hence, before we really go ahead with building more air-conditioners, think again. Sustainable development is really what we require.

For your information, I do have air-conditioners at home but I have not been using it for many years. Not that I'm an environment advocate, but I really do think that everyone of us have to play a part in saving the environment, and not always wait for the government to come up with policies etc.

Next, I have been in RV for 5 years, going into the 6th. I have seen many changes to our school, from the Queensway campus, Malan campus, to the current and permanent campus, from Ms Ek to Mr Koh, from appointment of Mr Chua KS and Mdm So KL till they left, and the arrival and departure of many many good teachers. I know all of us have things which we dislike, but I think it is important for us not to let what we dislike to mask the good things around us. Sort of a mental block I think. Although we have addition of many rules which we find unreasonable, there are many addition to our facilities and welfare too. Recall that we once complained the canteen was very crowded and there was not enough tables. Within a few days, we have the addition of many tables. When we were scolded for putting our bags in the canteen and taking up seats, there were installation of many bag-shelves all around the school (even though i do still find that $25k shelves are a bit too expensive). There are also the cheaper and larger lockers, air-conditioned gym, TGIF, beautified school campus (as opposed to the super dull campus when we first came it, i really think it has improved a lot with all the plants and so on)....Think, if it was in the past, I think we would get "oh the school does not have that much money............".

Without the stricter rules and academics criteria, I also really don't think that we will work as hard as we are now, and I believe our seniors wouldn't achieve that marvellous results. We have been living under moderation for many years, and I think that leniency is not a way to educate us. Thus, I was actually kind of glad about the stricter assessment as it really let me see where I stand, instead of more grades inflation.

Nevertheless, there are still some changes which I don't agree with. Things that are very obvious like "River Valley Badminton Academy" and the addition of 8 badminton mats that cost $21k EACH. I believe the funding which the government provides with the school is to expand students' abilities and groom them further in their expertises. Despite someone said that he was being fair to all CCAs and not biased to as a certain one, I think that the actions taken are obviously contradicting to his statement. Just with the badminton mats, does he spend $21k x 8 = $168k to each of the rest of the CCAs? The answer is no. $168k is not a small sum, and we believe that we could better put the money into better use, be it buying more laboratory equipments or even repaint the school to a brighter colour. At least these are benefiting the school as a whole. I know that what I am voicing out now is going to do any changes, but I think I still have the right to share what I feel, especially it is exactly what is happening now and I am not trying to manipulate any facts. I really hope MOE did not reduce funding our school, and not because of mis-usage of funds O.o

Lastly, can someone enlighten me why is it that many teachers have left RV recently?

I have been writing quite long, but writing the above line reminds me the addition of Mr Lee. I know that everyone in my class finds that he is definitely not as good as Mr Ong. However, should we really go to the extreme of ignoring him? No matter what, he is still a teacher, which many years of experiences. Although we are uncomfortable with him, I think that as a student, we should still finish our tutorials and prepare for lessons. On the practical manner, I really think that we should just do our tutorials at home, and just come for lesson to copy the answer, and not come to lesson to do the tutorials. I also don't see any point in asking questions, because I would not understand. So, let's just not waste anyone's time and just copy the answers and self study at home! If you have cared to find out, we have been slower than other classes by one lesson before Mr Ong left, and now we are much more slower. That's why we have to come back to school for make up for more "torture". It is our A'levels year. I really don't think that we should waste any energy in trying to change things that are not within our control. Just focus and study. Like what Mr Ong said, if you are a good student, whether the teacher is good or bad, you can still do well. Oh well, I'm not sure where I am going now, but that's about it. My grades are bad, and I don't think I want to make it worse. Just work hard, people!

feels like making a post now..

yesterday morning i went to bai my papa..

told gary that it's a day when i will miss my dad a little more, and he told me it's a day when i will feel more pensive probably..

i laughed it off and told him that thinking too much will make me emo, so im not, and i was working on my econs tutorial.. haha

but i believe subconsiously, i still am..

i was thinking about graduation trip with my friends (i know, it's too early to think about it now since we haven't even taken our Alevels, but this is not the main point here)

to korea or taiwan?

then i thought, wouldn't it be better if i can go overseas with my family again?

i can't even recall when is the last time i went overseas with my family..

was the trip to beijing when i was p3 (or was it p4) the last one?

i cannot even remember! no matter what, it's still a very long time back.

and then i recalled,

it was winter when we went beijing, and i recalled the time when we climbed the great wall of china.

my family stopped halfway, unable to stand the winter coldness,

so only left my dad and i continue climbing up the steps..

despite the cold, we managed to reach the end step by step.

people close to me will know that i was never close with my father..

and this recollection is one of the very very few things i have done with my father, just the both of us.

we have conquered the great wall in the winter with great determination and perseverance.

i have this sudden realisation, this is another lesson learnt,

no matter how harsh the environment is, with great determination and perseverance,

we can reach our goal.

this lesson is not taught explicitly to me,

it just suddenly come to me, like that.

maybe i was too young to understand then,

or maybe i'm thinking too much into little things now.

still, i believe this is a great lesson,

and i will carry this mindset to take the A levels, and throughout my life :)

even though my father is no longer around, even though it has been such a long time, i know i will still continue to learn from him day by day

i think i just lose the interest of writing, or maybe it's just nothing much is happening in my life that i'm just too lazy to talk about it.

or it's just i can't be bothered.

but suddenly i feel like talking.

unsure who to talk to,

maybe it just seems too trivial to share with anyone so i have decided to come back to this blog.

since i think that it has been so dead that no one actually come here anymore,

this can just be another avenue for now, for today.

i think i have changed a lot over the years, and i think those who know me will agree with me..

too many things have happened, and i think i have quieten down a lot due to different factors.

to an extent that i lose the interest to try to be happy?

i also dunno, it used to be a part of me to be optimistic, be high, be enthusiastic, friendly blah blah

but sometimes it just feels so demanding..

i cant be bothered

i guess it's getting better this year, things are looking brighter than last year,

the worst year of my life is over (i think)

although im still struggling to survive from the impact, trying to pull up my grades which had suffered,

i have gotten used to the jc life transition,

and i am home to study, more than last time.

i used to pack my schedule full of events since i was in sec1,

joining everything, volunteering my services..

at least when doing all these stuffs i know that i am still useful in this society in some ways so that i can keep on trying.

last year, i really felt like giving up everything (from here i also dont understand how do i define everything), but i was just bored out by life, so sick of it.

im thankful at least i have explorally, then go out to work, and now chingay to take up my time,

to think through what i want,

and to pull myself together.

i really want to work hard this year, although studying is not really my thing.

i'm the kind of person, despite disliking the thing im doing, i will still try my best.

saying about these, i also have realised there's a shift in the kind of volunteering i do since last time.

i used to be going out to like elderly homes etc to help out

and it was ever since pledge mobbing and heartware that i started helping out event-based volunteering.

even though these events are interesting and people find it more 'fun' to do as a cip,

actually i dont really like doing these stuffs,

because i prefer doing community service that serves people who needs help, the less fortunate..

instead of rah-rahing or directing people to board buses during events.

this is kinda random.

but oh well, i'm still doing all these events, who knows when will stop

maybe i will try to shift back to what i like,

but i guess that will be after a levels, maybe i'll start afresh, if i manage to get overseas.

money money.

i really want to leave this place. to relax, find what i really want to do, how to move on, before coming back again.

for now i really need to try to get motivation and continue to work hard.

yep.

i'm thankful for the people around me. no one really knows me now,

but at least making my life more meaningful. i doubt they know it anyway, but yeah.

ever since 3 years back i have stopped sharing stuffs.. no one really to talk to, other than germaine..

really find it hard to open up to anyone. trying to, but also cannot find suitable partners.. shrug.

people do joke around me with people, but actually neither one of the people i talk to is really the right person.. haha

i guess i'm just going to smoke my year through while trying whatever i can to move on. haha

even though chingay was tiring and is taking up a hell lot of my time (okay a whole saturday is very important to me for revision!) but i guess it's really a brand new experience, meeting new people.
like what i have told my director kaijie, i didn't manage to get scolded by the public by being a chingay motivator last time. LOL
not that i like getting scolded by the public, but it tests you on problem solving and make everyone feels better.. etcetc.
there's a lot more to learn.
and so i'm better learning to balance my time.
since this year is seriously a don't play play year. there's only one outcome, to pass with flying colours.

i have been complaining that i will be having such an emo christmas but i guess with my super wonderful colleagues, i have enjoyed my christmas so much.
i don't celebrate christmas, and only really started last year when i joined thewalletshop (tws) last year.
and i think this year is totally great.
and through this whole month, i am taking back all the initial regrets i had initially about returning to work.
although it has been quite (very )tiring, the experience has been great and i enjoyed my work, extending hours willingly.
time flies and december is coming to an end, same thing goes for my school vacation.
school is going to start soon, my work is going to end on 29th (hopefully, if louis allows)
which means, after my off tomorrow, i will only have 3more days with my colleagues!

thursday: off day but received sms that one wallet is lost the previous day i work.

friday: tio owned by louis aka supervisor about makeup. I DID PUT ON POWDER AND BLUSHER AND LIP GLOSS OK!

sat: poster pole fell right in front of me and missed me by an inch. the glass display broke and scattered right in front of me and glass pieces flew all around the shop. i was too stunned that it took me awhile to react, even when my colleague asked if im alrght >.<

sun: put on FULL makeup w eyeliner and shadow blah blah. my supervisor is finally nice enough to ask if i had trouble sleeping the previous night. lol. HOWEVER, CASHIER LOST $40 WHEN I JUST REPORTED TO WORK FOR 2HOURS zzzz

i'm going back to work part time.
okay maybe it's not really a sudden decision,
last week when i walked past the outlet at JP, my collegues asked me whether i wanna to go back to work for christmas.
actually i denied.. cos i have made up my mind to focus on studying this holidays.
but looking to my progress,
i realised this is not working.
i just cant get into the mood of studying and i ended up rotting my time away.
complete waste of time!
and i can't seem to reject people to go out, and that ended up spending more money, which is NOT GOOD!
so i've decided to work, halfway during kbox, lol.
work = not at home = better motivation to study. i promised myself to study at the library before/after work.
work = not going out to play = not spending money and instead = earning money :)

he was selling ice-cream, he said that he used to be a youth criminal and was told to sell ice-cream to earn money for some (rehabilation?) course..

but i felt quite sorry for him and just paid for it without telling my mom..

it's been a long time since i last heard something about being the change.

so far yet so familiar.

this totally stops me from doing my bio revision qns and makes me start to ponder..

i still remember during my PSL interview in sec1, i told the interviewers about wanting to bring rv to greater heights etcetc.

i have once wanted to take the lead, wanted to be the change, in everything i do

wanted to make things to be better than they are

but over the years, i'm not sure what happened,

these thoughts just started to fade off,

until a point that i thought they never existed.

it has become a culture in our community that we complain about every little thing in our life.

we complain, we swear, we blame other people,

but when do we really sit down and reflect, is it really others' fault, or is it just me?

if situation is really that sucky, do all the complaining help?

no it doesnt.

if you cannot change the situation, all you can do is to change your mindset, change yourself, and be the change.

yes, that's right.

we do hear people around saying about being the change, but how many of us really take it seriously, and turn it into action?

how many of us return to our usual state of blaming everything on our lives?

this really sets me thinking.

and i think it's make sense.

as a person, as a leader, as someone in the community,

yes, be the change.

i will live to what i had said before 5years ago.

and be the change and change your life to how you want to live it (Y).

exams are expensive.

let's see,

you can calculate the opportunity cost of preparing for an exam. the numerous hours spent on studying, while you forgo the chances of watching tv, spending time with friends, sleeping etc etc. in addition, people like me who need to eat while studying will spend a lot more money just to buy snacks and drinks. this will then lead to gaining weight and the need to exercise blah blah. and yes, with the stress you get from studying and exams, you compromise your health too! i never had so many pimples until this year! even my mom started to nag me, check out my photos in the last few years! gahhs.

what do we get out of these?

yeah exams do indeed force us to think, to prepare and gain knowledge which can be useful. exams give us the way to a brighter future. to secure a job, a better life. it's a way to judge, and see who can survive after years and years of examinations. so boring. but we have to endure on.

i suck.im so not constructive.

i only studied 4topics of econs and 2bio topics today.

i studied very very slowly relatively to the past.

but oh well, i made sure i read and understand before writing down notes,

instead of diving straight into writing notes w/o understanding.

like what teachers said, if your own study method do not give you good results, you will not get

good results if you continue to follow the same old method.

and yeah ms sab wrote in my progress report that my uneven results show that i need to relook at my approach of studying etc etc.

hopefully this new method im experimenting now helps, or else im dead X.x

yesterday evening i went to jog again. haha

i highlighted the route i tried out this time!!! >6km i think..

feel so refreshed.

im going to exercise regularly! so sad this year no cross country, or else i will aim for another medal..

and i find juniors nowadays quite entertaining.

i cannot exactly believe i will have sec1 juniors when im in year5,

but ss gives me two cute juniors!!

then adeline was smsing me.. and she commented that the other seniors like so no life one...

did a couple of new stuffs the past week.

although results sucked terribly,

tuesday saw the training for ndp contingent..

wednesday was sorting of icas certs etc during sci soc.

thursday went for environmental soc meeting FOR THE FIRST TIME.

friday had the scholarship fair in school. quite meaningful, although a lot of scholarships are more to the business side.. mmhmm..

then rushed to science centre with yiwei.. no groundwork so went to pack stuffs in the office..

(have the feeling of working in heartware office for some reason ._.)

the scs staffs are funny people too LOL... interesting.. then yiwei pangsehed me for not going observatory (7.30-10pm).

went to do observatory alone.. there were a lot of NUS high astronomy club people, but all younger than me lol.

weather wasnt good, so there wasnt much people and nothing to look at too...

im thankful though, met ewin from nushigh, and since she was only girl that came from her school, we hang out with each other and talked about a lot of stuffs 0.0

okay hahaha. more interesting..

ytd morning went back to school for aylc briefing..

felt terribly sian and purposely wanted to go late..

nat told me it starts at 9am, so i reached about 9.15pm (ok not very late =.=)

then i realised actually it starts at 9.45 =.==.==.= so i was super early in the end.

nice one lah..

learnt the AYLC dance too..

okay, i think the dance is quite fun.. though a bit weird.. since it' a couple dance HAHA.

im thankful that i have a great partner too ;D

slowly adapting back to own pace of life..

finally starts to fall asleep before 12am at night..

seriously, after all the late nights because of explorally, i couldn't fall asleep at night no matter how tired i feel. tsktsk..

been trying to catch up with the speed of jc life.

no longer can screw my life like in semester 1.

it was total horrendous.

although i still cannot totally figure out what was wrong with me,

but i'm glad that after explorally, i have somehow found myself back,

with greater motivation to carry on, improving grades (i feel, gonna die when results are out next week zz), my brain is starting to work after hibernating for gosh know how long..

really gonna work real hard for the rest of the year..

today was environmental society handover.

i didnt go for any meetings AT ALL, i don't reply to their smses and emails.

i dunno. i have no idea what they have done,

it's weird, it's awkward. and i find it seriously funny.

good job ypc!

even though there's still some loopholes here and there,

i shall declare today's training as a SUCCESS!

generally, it's great seeing all of you, showing enthusiasm in the task given to you,

be it station master or facilitator.

some level of flexibility and improvisation were seen in the things you do, the right attitude, are what we wanted to see, and we really seen them in most of you.

despite the last minute changes, i guess all of us coped it well enough

keep up the good work, and i hope to see better performance in all of you!

all of you deserve a good rest, and be better prepared for the next training!(:

remember everything we've said, and we shall bring exploRally 2010 into greater success!

thanks all volunteers for coming down too!

the sun was super big and it was super hot,

but im glad that most of you had fun!

it's a joy seeing the volunteers playing, the creativity they used in solving problems,

open-mindedness and the great teamwork really impressed me..

haha

it was really exciting,

especially the fruits of desire!

apples were hanged, and group members required to piggy back each other to bite the apples..

mr chan is retiring!
it's kinda sad..
even though some of the juveniled ppls dont really like him,
i think he's a good teacher, to me..
even though i also keep sleeping during his lessons,
i feel guilty and bad for him,
esp the day when only left 3people who are awake and he was totally pissed and stopped teaching..
i tried my best to stay awake for all his lessons..
there's a period of time when my geog failed to get A1,
it was him who gave me back my A1s
he's totally cute.
i think everyone agrees
all his ultimate pronunciations, his actions, everything
can reflect his passion and effort
totally funny and memorable.
i think he's one teacher that i will never ever forget.
although i no longer take geog now,
i will miss his lessons and chats.
